Headline Sponsors Pictons Announce A Massive 10% Increase in Nominations For Community Awards 2014
As the nominations for this year’s annual Luton and Bedfordshire Community Awards have now closed the headline sponsors Pictons have announced that the awards office has been inundated with nominations this year, with entries up by 10% on last year.
Sukh Saini, Pictons Managing Partner says “The response to nominations for the annual Luton and Bedfordshire Community Awards this year has been phenomenal. It is fantastic that there are so many people who have been acknowledged as deserving recognition for the contribution they make to the local community.
“This is the fourth year that Pictons are the headline sponsors and the fifth year we have sponsored an individual award, the Our Luton Award. Every year as headline sponsors we have to choose the Winner of Winners and it is always virtually impossible to select one outstanding person from the 17 equally outstanding award winners.
“There are clearly so many great people in Luton who improve lives for others and they truly deserve the nominations they’ve received from people who appreciate what they do.”
This year there are 18 awards categories this year which will recognise the enormous contribution made by people and projects which deserve that special acknowledgement. The categories this year range from Charity Champions, Service With A Smile, Community Project and Role Model of the Year, to new categories including Parent in a Million, Best Neighbour and Dementia Champion, as well as the Mayor’s annual award.
This year the Luton Food Bank will be the beneficiary of the Luton and Bedfordshire Community Awards’ generous donation. Community Magazine proprietor and Community Awards founder Mostaque Koyes says: “Every year we raise thousands of pounds for great causes.Local people and local companies are so generous, even in hard times. “
The prizes will be awarded at a glamorous event on Friday 10th October at Venue Central and will be attended by 600 people.
Mostaque concludes “Tickets for the event are now available at £15 each. Guests get the most glamorous and entertaining night out that Luton has to offer, with a delicious three course dinner.”
